Faithful Where You Are

I might be starting to sound like a broken record, but I am done wishing away seasons...even if they are hard. When I was a kid I couldn't wait to grow up, because high schoolers were "so cool." Then I became a high schooler and I couldn't wait to drive, go to college and date. When I got to college I wished I would find a man to marry and get the "dream job." I did finally graduate and I did marry the man and then it was wishing for kids. Well...now we have the kid and I am coming face to face with a lesson that God has been patiently teaching my heart in each of these seasons. Every season has a kingdom purpose. It is not wasted, He is working in all the "setbacks" or "delays."
This year more than ever I am on fire for being present and intentional in how I spend my time. One of the ways I am going after this is organizing my priorities and having my schedule reflect that. I want to pursue God first? Well, then I am going to arrange my day so that I seek Him first. I am also not going to do this all on my own. I am going to communicate with my husband when I need help and support. Can you take the baby for half an hour before work so I can get some quiet time in? What is a day that works for us to have family devotions? How would you like to structure sabbath this week? I am struggling with __________ can you pray over me? I also desire more time to be a present mom, so I am seeking out other people who do business similarly to me for their wisdom in how to set up rhythms in my business to maximize my time so I can steward what God has given me in Kingdom Arrows and as a mother well. Community is such a blessing and I truly believe that it brings us closer to God.
One of the biggest was I am restructuring my life this year is with my phone. I love content creation and connecting with friends online. However, it can be a huge distraction and without boundaries can come with unwanted emotions of comparison, hopelessness, or jealousy. So...I ordered The Brick. You may have heard of this device, but if you haven't let me introduce you to it. It is a magnet that hangs on your fridge. Then with an app on your phone you can tell it what apps you want it to "brick" you out of. Then you tap your phone to the brick and you can't get back into those apps until you return to the magnet and choose to unbrick. I have used it for the past 40hrs or so and I am loving it. I love the fact that it won't let me open those apps to keep me from scrolling in moments that I don't really need to be. Limiting time I could be comparing my weekend to what others are doing. Additionally, I am not scrolling Amazon at 3am while I am nursing ordering things we don't really need (helping me be a better steward of our financial resources).
I will admit that it is a little silly that I felt the need to order a device to keep me out of my device. You would think that as an adult I wouldn't need screen time moderators and that I could do it myself, but I have tried and can't or won't. So instead of giving up, I found a resource that is helping me pursue a goal that I believe is going to make me a better wife, mother, friend and business owner. Truth is, is we all need help. We can't do all we are called to do in this world solo, God knew that when He called us to His kingdom work. However, He created us a helper in the Holy Spirit. He created Godly community as in person support as we navigate the ups and downs of life. He designed Himself to always be accessible through prayer. How beautiful!
I am so thankful that God knew my human tendencies, knew my short-comings, knew that there would be times I would wish away perfectly wonderful seasons in pursuit of something better and He still chose me to be apart of His Kingdom. I am not "fired" from my position for being a lazy worker or forgetting what He has placed in front of me. He guides me, teaches me and encourages me to remain faithful with what He has given me.
I pray that together this year through coffee chats and all the other ways we connect, we can encourage one another to be faithful with where we are. Not all seasons are going to be comfortable, but I do believe that there is joy and goodness to be found in all of them. We are only one month in to 2026 friend, no matter how your January went, what are we going to prioritize in our lives for the rest of the year? And will our lives reflect what is most important to us?
